Return to Blogging! A New Year, A New KCRR!

Hello! I am glad to be back! A lot has happened since the last time to we spoke... the end of fall, the purchase of a house, the holidays & a family gathering. I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season and a delightful new year! Here's a few snapshots of recent events to bring us up to date:

Michelle and I prepared all these cards for my craft fair this year… in about 4 hours!! :)

Some neat big horn sheep on a trip to Vancouver in the fall

The Dixie Chicks… A phenomenal concert!

Our family gathered at Christmas time… not too often do we get a photo with all of us… so this is a rare gem and I truly love this shot!

I don't have any quality pictures of the house Matt and I purchased in December, but I can assure you, it is an AWESOME house and I am so happy to be a homeowner now :) (so much better than renting!) Anywho, I hope you had a just as eventful couple of months as I did! :)

Onto today's challenge… a new KCRR! Charissa and I randomly selected two items from our list and ended up with these:
Elegant Bouquet Embossing Folder
Basic Grey

Hmmm! Definitely a workable combination…. and I thought it would work well as a Valentine's card (with V-day being less than a month away and all…) Here's how it worked out:

I like the final product! I subtle, yet classy, Valentine's card! :) Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see what she made with these elements!

Supplies Used:
Paper: Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Basic Grey, More Amour DSP (ret)

Inspired By... #4: Key to my Heart

Happy long weekend! I supposed we couldn't have picked a better moving day, we will have lots of time to set-up the new place :) Before all the moving chaos starts, it's time for another Inspired By... Challenge! This week it was Charissa's pick:

A creative top hat designed by Orange U Creative (find her & her other beautiful designs on Facebook). I really played into the vintage-y feel to this card and brought the elements of stripes, red & the key into my card:

Of course, the card did not turn out exactly how I pictured it in my mind, but I still like the end result. The sentiment is a little washed out, but it does say "happy valentine's day." I used the small heart punch and wrote "to my" and attached it to the trinket key, to give the meaning of "key to my heart."

Here's hoping the recipient of this card understands the meaning... I find the card loses it's impact if you have to explain what they mean (lol). Well, guess it's time to start moving things... first to go, my crafting stuff! :) Don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippet by Design, to see how this photo has inspired her!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Whisper White
Tools: Hearts Framelits, Small Heart Punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch
Accessories: Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine, Trinket Keys (ret), Tulle Ribbon (ret), Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (ret), Rhinestones

FMS 70: Tulle Rosette

Hello! What a busy last couple of days... on the plus side, I got to see my absolute favourite baby boy and his parents, our good friends, tonight! I just love that baby boy :) When we got home tonight, I finally got around to making something new! :) I have been plotting this ribbon rosette ever since I saw this week's Freshly Made Sketch:

As promised, here is the tulle rosette creation:

Ta-da! I like it :) The tulle ribbon and the cherry cobbler core'dinations cardstock are both retired from the holiday mini. I wanted to make cherry cobbler my main colour (can you tell? lol) but I also wanted to add a bit of black... a colour I don't incorporate very much into my crafting. A touch of sanding on the core'dinations cardstock really brings that side of the card to life. And the little heart with the rhinestone added flare to the other side! :)

Thanks for looking today! :)

Supplies used:
Stamps: Delightful Dozen
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations
Ink: Cherry Cobbler
Tools: Scallop Border Punch, Small Heart Punch

MOJO Monday 276: Cupid Loves You

Hello again! I hope Monday was good to you :)

I played along this week with the Mojo sketch and came up with this pretty Valentine's card. It's almost that time of year again!

As you can see, the card follows along nicely with the sketch. I popped up the entire face plate to add some dimension to the card. Dimensionals are a necessity in my crafting room and I use them on basically every project!

Thanks for looking!

All You Need is LOVE

As promised, today's card :)

My dad will be the recipient of this card and he is sure to "love" it! :) He works out of town and displays all of the cards we send him in his room at camp... what a sweet guy!

I embossed the letters in LOVE and fussy-cut them (by far the only time consuming part of this card), everything else was a snap!

Seam binding ribbon is a must-keep on my shelves... it is so versatile and easy to use! Let me know what you think of this card :)

Thanks for stopping by!
