KCRR From Vacation!

Hello there! I am currently on a short 6 day vacation on Vancouver Island again :) but this time, instead of making the 12 hour trek in the car, I flew! And I have to say... flying is SO much better!! Now onto the challenges! We decided to play the challenges one day early this week, so today means a new KCRR challenge, and I wanted to play along with The Sweet Stop, and their awesome sketch:

The selections by random.org for KCRR this week were:

Baby Girl
Small Heart Punch

Hmm.. definitely a workable combination! I put everything together like so:

I think it turned out pretty cute! Not quite the traditional baby girl card... but I like the colour combination :) The only sad part about this card, is that almost everything is retired! (Luckily pear pizazz and blushing bride came back *lol* and I can't remember if marina mist retired or not? *lol again*)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see what she made with these elements.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Easy Events (ret), Teeny Tiny Wishes

Ink: Pear Pizazz, Basic Grey

Inspired By... Gentle Colours!

Good morning! Yay Friday! It's definitely the best part of the week :) Friday means a new Inspired By... Challenge, and I wanted to play along to The Paper Players:

This week's photo was selected by Charissa. A lovely set of prints she saw on Etsy:

I love these colours together! So soft. I turned them into a sympathy card for a friend:

I struggled with the layout a little bit. I ended up adding the stamp from Flowering Flourishes and the tulip border as an after-thought. I think it turned out pretty nice, and my friend liked it!

Don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see how the photo inspired her! :)

Supplies used:
Stamps: Flowering Flourishes, Loving Thoughts
Paper: So Saffron, Basic Grey, Micheal's Grey
Ink: Basic Grey, So Saffron, More Mustard (for the pansy)
Tools: Butterfly Punch (ret, for the pansy), Circles Nestabilities, Tulip Border Embossing Folder

A Snowy Thursday...

Hello there! Welcome back :) It has been a very busy, very HOT week here (the title of my blog post is probably a bit confusing now, but it'll make sense later). Matt went back to work today :( but he had an extra day off due to a flight scheduling error! Woot woot! We had an excellent weekend fishing and we spent the first part of the week bumming around various lakes & rivers around town in the heat. Unfortunately, this weekend is supposed to be super rainy and cold! Bummer! Maybe it will be a good weekend to hang out at home and catch up on crafting and cleaning (I say that all the time, maybe this weekend I'll actually do one of those things! *lol*). Anyways... onto the challenge! It is time for a new KCRR and I wanted to play along with Retro Sketches:

This week's selections for KCRR were:

Button Buddies
Bashful Blue

Hmmm... my original plan was to make a baby card... but then I changed my plan and went with... dun dun dun! A snowy Christmas card:

I like the way it turned out! I added a bit of glitter to highlight the "snow" mounds. The snowman is just so stinkin' cute :) well, that's all for me for tonight. Don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see how she put these elements together!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Button Buddies, Short & Sweet (ret)
Paper: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Midnight Muse, Print Poetry DSP (ret), Tangerine Tango
Ink: Marina Mist (intended on using Bashful Blue, but that didn't pan out *lol*), Midnight Muse, Basic Grey
Tools: Circles Nestabilities, Frames Embossing Folder
Accessories: Grosgrain Ribbon (ret)

Inspired By... A Ladybug!

Happy Friday! Last night, Matt and I got all dressed up and went to see Les Miserables at our local playhouse. It was fantastic!!! I can't say how impressed I am by all the talent (mostly local to our city) displayed on that stage last night. The show was a musical (so everybody sang the whole time) and it was accompanied by our local symphony orchestra. I had to constantly remind myself that the music was live - it sounded like a sound track! I can't wait for the next production!! :)

Now onto the challenge! It is time for a new Inspired By... and I wanted to take a crack at the Retrosketch this week as well:

This week's pic was mine, and I chose a picture from my recent walk in the desert: a ladybug hanging out on a pretty flower:

From the pic, I took the green, the purple and the concept of bugs :) Here's what I came up with:

I finally found the opportunity to use the super cute Close to My Heart stamp set, Bugs & Hugs... and is it ever cute!! I like how the card turned out. Plus, with this sentiment, the card could be used as a baby card or a birthday card :) Here's a close-up of the details:

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to hop over to Charissa's blog to see how this photo inspired her! :)

Thursday Fun: KCRR #23

Good morning! I hope your week has been treating you well! It has been beautiful here and I have been fully enjoying the sun :) Two visits to the lake and not much going on inside *lol* I am so looking forward to the weekend as it is supposed to be very nice as well! Matt arrived home this morning, so we are planning a camping/fishing trip (as usual) :) I am looking forward to it! Now onto the challenge, a new KCRR and I wanted to play along with the Paper Craft Crew:

We decided to select three randomly for this week's challenge, and the winners were....

Mixed Bunch
Regal Rose
Markers

Interesting selections, as usual! Here's how I put the three together, along with the sketch:

I think it turned out nicely (meaning... I would give it away to someone for their wedding *lol*). I had a hard time incorporating the markers... so I took the easy way out and used my regal rose marker to colour the flower trim, giving them a little pop.

What do you think? Don't forget to stop over at Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see how she used these three elements!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Love & Laughter, Short & Sweet
Paper: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose (ret), Mocha Morning DSP (ret)
Tools: Small Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch
Accessories: Pearls, Flower Trim (ret), Linen Thread, Lace Ribbon, Marker

Inspired by... An Amazing Sight!

Good day! We are (not) looking forward to a rainy weekend here in northern BC, but I will take the opportunity to clean my apartment and craft some :) Now onto today's challenge, a new Inspired by...

Charissa chose the photo this week, an awesome snapshot of the Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park:

Amazing hey!! I took from this photo all the amazing colours (interpreted as Pacific Point, Pool Party, Daffodil Delight, and Cajun Craze) and put them together like so:

I think this starburst effect is becoming one of my favourites! It is such a great way to display a few or more colours (although, when I actually went t glue these pieces down after laying them out, I did something funky and they didn't go together as planned... hmmm...) There were originally two daffodil delight segments, but only one made it onto the card. Anyways, it still looks good! :)

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see how this photo inspired her!

Supplies used:
Stamps: Friendly Phrases (ret)
Paper: Brights Stacks (ret), In Colour Stacks (ret), Orchard Harvest DSP (ret), Very Vanilla, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party
Ink: Basic Grey, Daffodil Delight
Tools: 1-3/4" Punch
Accessories: Baker's Twine, Sponge

Return to Blogging with KCRR #22

Hello there! Wow it has been a long time! I have been MIA from the crafting world for about a month now, and I have been having some fun over the past month :) I spent a week at the lake and tried surfing in the pacific ocean (*lol* I was not very good, but my sister sure was!). I have been kayaking, camping, fishing, hiking and soaking up the sun at every opportunity... so, needless to say, I have been enjoying my break. But, at the same time, it is also nice to be back. It'll take a bit to get my creative juices flowing again, so this first crack at bat isn't spectacular *lol* Before I share the card, here's a few snapshots from my month off:

Anyways... I can't wait till the end of the month when I am heading back to the ocean for another week! :) Now, onto the card... it's time again to start up the challenges with a new KCRR!

We decided to select three random items off the list this week and came up with:

A Fun Fold Card
Jewelry Tag Punch
Pretty in Pink

Hmmm... interesting selections! Well, lucky for me, I was able to let the designer paper I chose speak for itself and many embellishments were not needed. Here's what I came up with:

I chose to make a diaper fold card (I found a tutorial on this lovely lady's blog). It looks more like an open envelope than a diaper to me *lol* but I really like the fold! It's great to have a pocket big enough to put a nice amount of space for writing (I find that some of the fun fold cards don't have enough or any room for writing).

Well, that's all for now! Don't forget to pop over to Charissa's blog, Snippets by Design, to see what she created with the selections :)

Thanks for stopping by!
