No Embellishments KCRR

Good morning! I was able to get out on the lake for a few hours last night, it was such a calm, peaceful evening... just the perfect way to wrap up a less-than-great workday! Here's a pic of the sun setting over the lake:

Well, it's Thursday, so that means a new KCRR challenge! I also wanted to play along with Mojo Monday and the Color Throwdown:

The selections for KCRR this week were: no embellishments, just paper (eek!!) and the stamp set Patterned Occasions. These, combined with the above, turned into this! A cute little hello card:

*lol* I smile every time I see it! The lively colours and the cute little elephant are perfect to send to a friend for a quick note. The cloudy day embossing folder is a great compliment to the tempting turquoise strip.

Overall, while I really REALLY wanted to add pearls to this, the no embellishments turned out to be not that hard *lol* Before I wrap it up, I just wanted to do a quick shout-out for my unconventional wedding card that was selected as a "top pick" over at Stampin' Royalty!

Friday's Best: KCRR #14

Good morning! Yahoo, another Friday has arrived! I seriously hope today is much faster than yesterday for work... I swear I dozed off at some point in the afternoon *lol* oops. I was so happy when 4:30 rolled around and I could actually do something :) Anyways, enough of my sob story, onto the challenges! Friday means a new KCRR challenge and I also wanted to play along with Mojo Monday:

This week's random selections for KCRR were two stamp sets: Rain or Shine and Tiny Tags. Hmmm... Not a combination I would normally put together, but Tiny Tags has so many options in it that these two could definitely work! Here's what I came up with using this wild Mojo sketch:

I like the outcome! I think it would be a perfect fun little "hello" card to send to a friend. The bright colours really say "spring is here!" (Which it is coming rapidly! All the snow is finally melting away :)) I really love the colour combination in the sunshine and sprinkles DSP, so cheery.

Bold Palette With the Colour Q

Good evening :) Glad you could join me again today. Here's a quick little post before I head off to bed. I had a nice night playing Scrabble & making dinner at my mom's. Then it was a busy night making a few cards :) Before I get to the challenge, I just wanted to mention a few shout-out for some of my recent cards:

First, I was an Artist Pick at Pals Paper Arts with my adorable baby card.

Second, I was a featured artisan with my Easter card at Paper Craft Crew.

And finally, I was a goddess pick over at Stampin' Royalty with one of my favourite baby cards.

I finally got to use the delicate circles from the Lacy & Lovely stamp set (I use the sentiment all the time :) *lol*) I like the way the card turned out and the colours actually look great together!

Mojo Monday & Inspired by...

Post #3 for you today, and my last post before Monday :) Boy, I have hit the brick wall this afternoon, and don't know how I'm going to make the 8-9 hour drive after work! I guess I'll just have to play it by ear and see how far I can get... "Hotel Honda" (my lovely Honda Fit) is always a great place for a nap! :) I want to share with you the card I made for Inspired by... and Mojo Monday challenges:

First, it was my week to pick the inspiration photo. I pick this pretty little scene from a Michael's email.

I love the colours in this picture :) They were my inspiration, as well as the lovely spring feel of the photo. Here's what I created:

I was first inspired by Charissa (see her original post here) to make a card featuring geraniums made from the itty bitty shapes punch pack. I think they work really nicely here. I had to add the little group of blossoms away from the vase because some stray ink got on the card *lol* that is the most serious downfall to having a SUPER messy crafting area... ink getting places it is not supposed to be. Oh well, it worked out for me in the long run :) Here is a really odd angle of the card *lol*:

I am also entering this card into the Simon Says Stamp Challenge, where the theme this week is "anything goes" (you may have picked this up from my two earlier posts *lol*

Simon Says "Hello!"

Post #2 for you today :) I will be playing along again with Simon Says Stamp Challenge, who theme is "anything goes" (pretty much the greatest theme ever). I wanted to make a "hello" card for Matt's aunt, who is here visiting for a while.

Butterflies, lace & peals, oh my! All these elements make the card super feminine, and perfect for an aunt! I had originally intended on putting the large tea cup from this stamp set on the card, but quickly came to realize that that stamp would pretty much take up all the white space *lol* so I snipped out one of the smaller cups instead.

I finally broke out my bitty butterfly punch! Such a cute accent :) Oh, and I really really do miss the satin ribbon. It is so easy to work with and ties into the most perfect bows :( maybe Stampin' Up will bring something similar to it back in the new catalogue (coming in June!! Eeeek!)

The Play Date Cafe Meets The Paper Players

Hello there! I hope your weekend was a good as mine :) Yesterday was great, with the usual shopping in the morning and then mom and I made pizza crusts by hand to feed Matt's and mine friends and family during the UFC fights. It was a great night full of friends and family :) Prior to our guests showing up, we had a game of cards:

I just love this picture! Beefy is so cute :) (mom was sitting there, but as soon as she got up to take the picture, Beefy hopped onto the chair). Anyways, we never got to finish the game as our guests started showing up... it was fun none-the-less! :) Today was great as well! Matt and I cleaned the apartment and did some shopping and basically had a home day. It is so nice to have one of those every once in a while!

Before I get to today's challenges, I want to share some of my cards that have been recently recognized (insert woohoo here!). First, the awesome birthday card I made for my bestie Michelle (see original post here) was recognized as a "glamette" in the Friday Mashup and as an "eye-catcher" in the Color Throwdown. YAY! How exciting!

AND, to top off this excellent weekend, my clean and simple hello card (see original post here) was chosen as a Stampin' Royalty Goddess! Again, how exciting!! I really appreciate all of the recognition!

Anyways, on with the challenges! Today I wanted to play along with The Play Date Cafe and The Paper Players:

Cute sketch and great colours! Wouldn't you agree? I am keeping up with my mom's request for "Hello" cards and I made this:

I like it! White space is really starting to become a big player on my cards. Before, even the though of white space on my cards made my mine spin, but now, it's almost always the first thing that pops into my design plans. Strange, the evolution of a card-maker's thought process, isn't it? *lol* Anyways, the pop of colour with the calypso coral is so nice. I originally hadn't planned on colouring the flowers, but I am glad I did.

I also enjoy the white on white border on the top of this card. And that ribbon is from last year's Sale-A-Bration event (sadly, this year's event comes to an end at the end of the week). And there are two scored lines near the border, which are kind of hard to see in the photo, but look super cute in real life :)

Mojo & The Paper Players: Hello!

Hello there! Wow, another week almost done and it is the middle of March. I cannot believe how fast time is flying by this year! Last night Matt & I went and saw Oz in 3D, I liked it! It was a sweet, non-violent movie... with a cute main actor! ;) That makes it all worth it, hey? So after a busy night last night, I finally got around to playing along with Mojo Monday & The Paper Players challenges:

As always, the Mojo sketch is fabulous! And the colours for The Paper Players are just fabulous! I definitely see the potential in both of these challenges! Here's how I decided to combine them:

Hmmm... I like it! It was kind of a challenge to put these colours together in a nice way, but I think this really worked! My mom requested more "Hello" cards, thus, the addition of the sentiment. I like how this card speaks for itself with the one stamp. Also, I am finally getting some use out of the floral framelits!! Woohoo! I cannot say (without being embarrassed) how much supplies I have in my collection that is rarely used or has never been used... It is about time to take an inventory! Anyways, I digress, here is a close up of the floral framelit detail:

Colour Q & Stampin' Royalty: Hello!

Good evening! Again, another late post and I am beat... I will try and make it a quick one :) I had a great night! My mom, sister and I all went to a live "production" of the popular TV show, The Price is Right! No, it was not the real thing, but it was still fun! One time we had tickets to go to the real production, but unfortunately, my sister had not turned 18 yet so we did not use the tickets. It would still be fun to go now that we are all of age! :) Anywho, now on with the challenges. Today I wanted to play along with the Colour Q and Stampin' Royalty:

What is not to love about this colour combination!? Just perfect! I combined this with Stampin' Royalty's theme this week: Clean and Simple. Here's what I created with these two challenges in mind:

Wow! Lots of white space! How do I feel about the white space? Well, I love it! White space is definitely something that is new to my crafting vocabulary, but it is sure leaving a pleasant vibe in my crafting corner! :) I think this is a really cute little hello note.
